A newly established senior leadership role within the Office of the Vice President, Students has emerged, and an accomplished individual is sought to fill a unique and operationally focused position. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in collaborating with Students, Faculty and Staff plus unit leaders across the Vice President Students (VPS) portfolio both on the Vancouver Campus and at UBC-O in Kelowna. The scope of the role is broad as the Executive Director will be attentive to strategic implementation, evaluation efforts on various initiatives and will work closely with the VPS concerning matters of policy and institutional importance. The position also serves as a senior advisor on a variety of administrative responsibilities and will be part of the execution of portfolio-wide special projects. The VPS sees this role as a foundational part of the success of the portfolio to ensure various initiatives are monitored related to delivery and outcomes. This Executive Director role requires an individual who is a self-starter, a hands-on generalist who has fully demonstrated the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be able to perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects within a large and complex institution with various stakeholders and partner groups. In essence, this new position would equate to a Chief of Staff in various sectors but ideally the new Executive Director will bring specific experience from a post-secondary setting and be a thought partner to the VPS. This position requires an individual who embraces equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work and thinking. A true best practices leader who has an eye for detail, is nimble, dynamic and innovative in solving multifaceted emerging issues. An individual who can act as a liaison and cultivate positive working relationships across the University. A Master’s degree is required along with a minimum of 10+ years in a senior advisory level, ideally within a university environment or related public sector organization.
