This highly specialized Faculty has more than 900 full-time Juris Doctor (JD) students and provides its students with the highest quality of student services. Osgoode maintains its own registration, academic programs and records operation in order to meet the particular needs of JD students and alumni.

 

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, Students, the Manager, Academic Programs and Records, is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of delivery of a comprehensive set of academic programs and records services and supports for Osgoode students (JD, Exchange Programs, Letter of Permission and Joint and Combined Programs), faculty, adjunct faculty, and alumni. The incumbent participates in policy and procedural development in the areas of registration, examinations, academic advising and accommodation, course enrolment, grades, course evaluations, convocation, and statistical reporting. In addition, the incumbent supports the Assistant Dean as a key academic advisor for Osgoode JD students and manages all aspects of the operations for the Programs and Records Office. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean, Students, the incumbent is one of three managers that are responsible for the management of the Office of Admissions and Student Services.

 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

 

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.

 

Experience:

·         5 years of related experience.

·         3 years of management experience.

·         Experience in a student service/registrarial services area of a post-secondary institution (law school experience preferred).

·         Experience in a management position is essential, which includes supervisory experience in a unionized environment, with demonstrated leadership, motivational and diplomatic skills appropriate to a large and complex service delivery organization.

 

Skills:

·         Knowledge of university and law school academic policies, regulations, and procedures.

·         Knowledge of lawyer accreditation requirements in Ontario and other jurisdictions. Skills

·         Able to implement policies, programs, and strategies that support an institution’s objectives.

·         Able to handle conflict resulting from change management implementation and/or daily operational challenges.

·         Project management and negotiation skills.

·         Able to promote collaboration and collegiality.

·         Effective communication skills.

·         Able to apply sound judgement, initiative and creative problem solving.

·         Effective organizational skills including the ability to meet pre-defined deadlines and coordinate projects simultaneously.

·         Proficient in student information systems (or similar), spreadsheets, email, databases as well as electronic exam systems (e.g. Examplify) and other related systems.

·         Able to work effectively under pressure of high volume with constantly changing priorities.

·         Able to show initiative.

·         Able to maintain confidentiality.

Compensation:

York’s CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
